MONSERRAT, THE BASILICA DE MONSERRAT AND THE ESCOLANIA!

We were on the train this morning to Monserrat when Mike asked a young lady, who was wearing a Barry University sweatshirt, where the school was located.  Her reply was, “I really don’t know, I got it at a thrift shop!”  These young folk were traveling together after meeting in a hostel!  They were DELIGHTFUL and their travel stories were AMAZING!

When we arrived in Monserrat, this is the first sign we saw.  It was the perfect destination for the four of us (just kidding—we didn’t go) while our young friends…

…chose to walk to the top!  ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜³ (No thank you!)

While we stood in line to ride the cable car, we marveled at the gorgeous mountains!

Off we went up the mountain to the Basilica de Monserrat.  WOW!  What a ride!  What great views!

The Basilica was gorgeous, inside and out!

We made it in time to attend the Escolania (boys’ choir) practice.  Beautiful!  (Murray, it reminded me of Nick and Pat!)

We decided to have “LINNER” at the Hostal!

Were we in for a culinary adventure!  Patte was happy right from the start!  (Can you tell why?)

The rest of us were happy as well!

What a gorgeous venue!

And the food was something else!  We started with three cold appetizers,

followed by three warm appetizers,

and then a scrumptious entree each!

John and Mike both enjoyed a glass of Tio Pepe while we all enjoyed delicious desserts!

We took in the sights while waiting to head down the mountain, back to Barcelona (this time by the tram)!

The four of us skipped dinner (well, I would hope so after that HUGE linner) and nibbled on cheese, Iberian ham, oranges, chocolate and wine!  It was perfect ending to the perfect day, and the LAST DAY of our Mediterranean Adventure!
