HOME SWEET HOME!

We made it!  We made it!  We made it back home to Indiana!  And Mike and Patte made it back home to O H I O! What a phenomenal Mediterranean Adventure!  We enjoyed every minute of it, but it sure feels good to be home! Thanks for following along with us!  ‘Til next time!!!

THE LONG WAY HOME AND WE HAVE A NEW PRESIDENT!

Image
We each received a text early this morning stating that our flight out of Barcelona was delayed 2.5 hours!  (Darn it!).  We had a driver scheduled at 8AM, which we decided to keep and just arrive early to the airport!   We drank coffee while watching on our phones when Donald Trump became the 47th President of the United Sates of America!  WOW! We spent hours comfortably sitting in the Joan Milo Lounge! Luckily we were comfy because another text came through informing us that we were “Delayed another 35 minutes!”  FINALLY we boarded our flight to America! When we landed in Newark (we had a very tight connection) everything took SO MUCH TIME!  There were long lines everywhere for everything.  When we went to pick up our checked bags, Patte and Mike got their’s right away and proceeded through Passport Control and on to the gate to wait for us.   Our luggage took FOREVER and then we discovered that my ticket did not have “Global Entry” on it.  ...

MONSERRAT, THE BASILICA DE MONSERRAT AND THE ESCOLANIA!

Image
We were on the train this morning to Monserrat when Mike asked a young lady, who was wearing a Barry University sweatshirt, where the school was located.  Her reply was, “I really don’t know, I got it at a thrift shop!”  These young folk were traveling together after meeting in a hostel!  They were DELIGHTFUL and their travel stories were AMAZING! When we arrived in Monserrat, this is the first sign we saw.  It was the perfect destination for the four of us (just kidding—we didn’t go) while our young friends… …chose to walk to the top!  😳😳😳 (No thank you!) While we stood in line to ride the cable car, we marveled at the gorgeous mountains! Off we went up the mountain to the Basilica de Monserrat.  WOW!  What a ride!  What great views! The Basilica was gorgeous, inside and out! We made it in time to attend the Escolania (boys’ choir) practice.  Beautiful!  (Murray, it reminded me of Nick and Pat!) We decided to have “LINNER” at the Hos...

RENAS DE BARCELONA (BULLFIGHT ARENA), PARC GUELL (GAUDI), LA PEDRERA CASA MILA (GAUDI MASTERPIECE), SIR VICTOR ROOFTOP BAR AND LA RAMBLAS CAFE!

Soooooo, guess what?  We woke up to a rainy Monday morning in Barcelona and decided that Patte and John needed better DRUGS than the over-the-counter concoctions they’ve been taking!  So we ventured to a nearby coffee shop and enjoyed breakfast while waiting for their doctor appointments! In case you were wondering, I was wearing THREE LAYERS under my jacket (yes, it was cold and damp outside), and John was sitting in a very low comfy leather chair! 🤪 Patte and John left for their doctor’s appointment and Mike and I stayed at the coffee shop when, all of a sudden, everyone’s phone sounded this LOUD alert!  Although Mike proved to be very good at Spanish translation, he failed miserably at reading this text!   (We guessed it was a FLASH FLOOD ALERT!) It wasn’t long before the sick ones returned, looking like drowned rats but bearing GOOD DRUGS! 🤣🤣🤣 First stop: RENAS DE BARCELONA, which was the old bullfighting arena turned mall!  Thank goodness bull fighting ...
