Woke up to another beauuutiful morning in Athens, Greece!
We made it to the center of town and was it a hoppin’!
We jumped on the BigBus and began a tour of the city!
And, if you look closely, you will see the ACROPOLIS behind us! If you don’t know what that is by now, something is terribly wrong! 🤣🤣🤣 Here’s a hint—EVERY single picture ever taken in Athens, Greece has the backdrop of the Acropolis!
We switched buses at one of the stops and proceeded to head down the beach route, all WITHOUT ANY AUDIO! The route was two hours long (with no commentary). But it was a somewhat scenic route where we caught glimpses of the Aegean Sea (beautiful) and its’ beaches (nothing quite as spectacular as Anna Maria Island beaches).
We made it back to the city center just in time to meet up with Rachael, our food tour guide! OMGoodness, she was a delight!
We went into the not so pretty local spots and tried everything Greek! Ouzo, pastries, and wine began our taste testings!
We proceeded to the fish market, which was AMAZING!
And then the meat market, which was (let’s just say) interesting! 😳😳😳
We tried nuts and olives and fruit (and more) all grown in various parts of Greece at the fruit market!
After all of that, we sat down, (at a dive, but an amazing dive at that), and enjoyed a dinner of TONS of GREEK specialties! John and I LOVED every single bite! Patte and Mike found SOME bites doable!!!
After dinner we had a honey sampling and tried pistachio butter. (OMG!!! Soooo good!)
Then it was time for desserts and Greek coffee (which was NOT decaffeinated, so I knew I’d be up ALL NIGHT LONG!). But it was just too good not to finish every last drop!
All in all, it was another great Greek day! It would have been nice knowing what we were passing during the two hour portion of our BigBus tour, but the weather was perfect, the samples and drinks were delicious, and our food tour group was delightful!
