We knew at first glance that we were going to LOVE being back in Italy! And Sicily—a first for all of us!
After a bit of a bus trip (but a beautiful one at that) we arrived in Taormina and boarded a boat to ride in the Ionian Sea! Breathtaking! (The sunny, 80 degree day certainly helped to make it extra special!)
This was the Cave of Love with the upside down heart (look closely!),
and this was the Blu Cave (can you tell why that is?),
and, finally, the Orange Coral Cave.
We spotted young folk (idiots) jumping into the water!
Mike and Patte braved the cold waters (at least their toes did)! They said that was far enough!
We all enjoyed the ride, the sights and the weather!
Beautiful beaches were everywhere (but oh so rocky)!
A shrimp boat came by — never saw one that looked like this! Our driver told us the local shrimp are small but delicious!
We caught a final glimpse of Mount Aetna—an active volcano that rises about Sicily. It is magnificent looking, however, it erupts daily. 😳
Once our boat ride ended, the tour bus dropped us off at Taormina’s city center. What an enchanting place!
We were all bummed when our time in Taormina was up, but we ventured back to the boat.
Sadly, the wine John and I purchased (for the evening’s Happy Hour) was denied entry! Apparently, it will be delivered to our room before we depart the ship. (Bummer.)
The headliner show was a magician, and after it was over we meandered the ship enjoying the various venues. We listened to karaoke,
and then to a lively piano player,
and finally, we were casino bound! John played roulette for a while and called it quits while he was up! All in all, it was a WONDERFUL DAY!
